Prayer rug

A prayer rug (seccade) is a personal, portable rug used for prayer. Unlike other rug forms in this collection, it's sized for an individual rather than a space. It provides just enough room for feet when standing and for the forehead and hands during prostration. Therefore, there's no need to look for large sizes in a prayer rug; it's evaluated based on the user, not the room layout.

Sizing is determined by the individual

Prayer rugs are typically produced in widths of 70-80 cm (27-31 inches) and lengths of 110-130 cm (43-51 inches). Taller individuals may prefer a length closer to the upper limit for greater comfort, while smaller sizes are chosen for children. For a product where knees and forehead make direct contact, the smoothness of the surface is as crucial as the size. If you wish to compare the size with the space in your home, you can use our rug size calculator page.

The pattern has a direction

Most prayer rugs feature a mihrab (arch) motif at one end, which is laid facing the Qibla (direction of prayer). This means, unlike other forms in this collection, the prayer rug dictates its own orientation; the pattern serves as a guide for how it should be laid. Simply noting where the pointed end of the motif faces is sufficient for correct placement.

This directional information makes the prayer rug portable: when laid in a different room or during travel, its size remains constant; only its orientation needs to be readjusted.

Frequently Asked Questions about Prayer Rugs

What about the number of options?

Currently, 5 models are listed. We openly state that this is a limited selection; if you can't find the size or color you're looking for here, you might find quicker results by checking the smaller models among our rectangular rugs.

Can it be folded and stored?

Yes, prayer rugs are designed to be folded and stored daily. Consistently folding along the same line can leave a crease over time; occasionally changing the fold line helps preserve the surface. Thinner models take up less space when folded and are easier to store in a closet.

How are they cleaned and delivered?

Most products are machine-woven using polyester and polypropylene yarn; washing and drying information can be found on our rug care guide page. Orders ship within 1 business day and are delivered in 3-5 business days, with a 14-day unconditional return policy and a 12-month manufacturer's warranty.
