Unlike other rugs on our site, faux fur and sheepskin rugs stand out in one key way: most are not rectangular. Their edges are irregular, mimicking the natural lines of a hide. So, asking about exact dimensions isn't very helpful here; the real question is where you'll place it.
Placement, Not Measurement
For a living room rug, you'd measure the room and choose dimensions based on furniture placement. A faux fur or sheepskin rug, however, isn't a floor covering but an accent: it's placed in front of a single armchair, at the foot of a bed, under a desk chair, or even draped over the back of a sofa. It doesn't cover an area; it highlights a single spot. Therefore, the measurements on product pages indicate approximate outer limits; due to irregular edges, no two identical products will be exactly the same down to the centimeter. For the same reason, trying to place two of these rugs side-by-side to cover a large area usually doesn't work well, as the pieces won't fit together and the edges will overlap.
What's in Our 62-Piece Selection
Our selection primarily features long, sparse-pile, fur-look surfaces. As the pile length increases, the surface appears more dynamic and shaded; shorter piles look tidier. The color palette largely revolves around cream, gray, brown, and black. All products in this selection are single pieces; there are no sets sold together. This selection was intentionally kept narrow; if you're looking for a wider range of colors and sizes, plush-soft rugs or woven rugs are more suitable starting points.
Materials and Backing
The products here are faux fur; the long pile is typically polyester or acrylic-based, while the backing features a thin felt or suede-look lining. There's no overlock binding because the edges are irregular. Care is also different: instead of pressing the vacuum onto the surface, gently glide it, shake it out on the balcony occasionally, and use a wide-tooth comb to untangle any matted areas. This is usually sufficient.
Two Common Questions
- Can they be machine washed? There isn't a blanket yes for this group; the backing structure varies from model to model. Do not machine wash without reading the washing instructions on the product page, and refer to the care guide for methods.
- Do they slip on the floor? Being thin and lightweight, they can move on slippery surfaces. Placing a thin mesh pad underneath is the most practical solution; options are available on the non-slip rugs page.
