Choosing wall colors

Terracotta rugs look cleanest against off-white, sand beige, and light sage green walls. With cool gray walls, its orange undertones become more prominent, and the two colors can clash. Are terracotta and orange the same?

No. Orange is brighter and purer; terracotta has a mix of brown and gray, making it matte. This matte quality makes terracotta much easier to incorporate into large surfaces than orange.

What's the right size for a hallway?

When using a runner, leaving 4-6 inches of visible floor on both sides is a good starting point to prevent the hallway from looking narrow.
